Death by Laughter
The Catalan clown troupe Los Galindos have been guests at TOLLHAUS and ATOLL on several occasions and the formation around Marcel Escolano and Bet Garrell has always managed to enchant audiences with their poetically absurd circus. With their latest comic and gruesome prank MDR (Mort du rire), which can best be translated as "Totgelacht" (laughed to death), Los Galindos are certainly topping what has gone before. In a bizarrely Kafkaesque and black-humorous starting point, three almost classic clown characters meet, who not only reveal a merciless hierarchy, but also quickly prove to be masters of intrigue, duping and sabotage. Thus, an incredibly virtuoso spectacle of confrontation, outdoing each other and hitting each other in the head ignites on a humdrum building site. Splash and splatter are not left out, nor are hair-raising tastelessness and philosophical reflections. For the audience, however, an escalation spiral is ignited full of acrobatic virtuosity and incredible furiosity, at the end of which the "mort du rire" could actually threaten.
